The Codemine sample app is good. Codemine is excellent. Codemine is great with SQL backends and "normal" VFP apps and mixing 2.6 tables in there too. I have used Codemine for a good few years now. It is fast, reliable and easy to learn.

I think a sample app can say a lot about a framework - why shouldn't it. If you provide a "crap" sample application when you are trying to sell your tool, what does that say about the framework?

I have never used MM and from what I can see, the MM crew are as enthusiastic about MM as the Codemine crew are. Kevin McNeish is high profile in this forum and in the Fox community too. I don't think you could go wrong with either framework but I think you may find a bigger learning curve with MM - only my opinion though. My reasons for saying this. Well, MM has been developed from a Codebook standpoint although it is its own framework nowadays. However, Codebook was always considered difficult to learn so, Kevin created the version for Mere Mortals to use. However, the Codebook way sometimes isn't a great fit with VFP and utilises VFP in a way that is very OOP but not necessarilly very VFP. Codemine, however, doesn't fight with the Fox and lets you use Fox in a very granular and perhaps more natural way.

The framework comparison on the Wiki does Codemine no justice whatsoever so, I would not assess Codemine based on the Wiki comparison table. Also, the number of users on the UT is not really a yardstick on which to base a buying decision. It may be a factor when considering peer support though. However, Codemine has great support too. Dave Lehr at Soft Classics is very responsive to support requests via e-mail. This service has always been there and it is free. There are also an awfull lot more Codemine users nowadays, and a lot of them hang on the UT (yours truly <s>).

Obiously I am biased but happy to be so - Codemine is a great product and I can personally recommend it from a number of development perspectives.

>Hi all,
>I am about to commit to a framework and have narrowed down the choices to Codemine and Mere Mortals. The sample app from Codemine is great, while the sample app from MM left me wondering what all the fuss is about. But there must be a reason so many of you here use MM.

Currently it would be client/server, but I do have an unused SQL server 7 running that I would like to upsize the app onto. Especially if we open some branches nationwide in the next year.

>So what are the differences based on your real world experiences (I've been reading the wiki framework chart till my eyes glazed over--thanks Mike and all the other contributors). I plan on making the purchase today and would appreciate your feedback.
