Since no one is awake, I will answer my own question. There was no problem with the code or properties, but only with the data. There were duplicate records, the first of which displayed no comments or description of the bound field. I deleted the bogus record and my data is displaying properly.

Sorry to have troubled anyone out there,...

And by the way, Combo Box is spelled "ComboBox".
