This may or may not apply to your problem. I some cases in 2.6 I have had that error reported. I still get it with a Pentium 200 64megs RAM. I have my video card set to 1024x768 True 32bit Color. If I set the video to less colors say 256 colors the error no longer occurs. The memory error may be video memory not main memory.
