Alan,

I was able to upgrade the laptop with an XP Pro CD, then I installed IIS. VS.NET seems to be working fine now. I have built and run a web service and a web application on IIS without any errors.

>Make sure you install IIS when installing XP pro. Then install VS.Net. If you install XP pro, then VS.Net, then IIS you will screw up your VS.net and have to do a repair to VS.NET.
