Yes, well - I don't know of an easy, built-in way, in VFP, to transpose columns and rows, so a loop - or several nested loops - seems to be the logical way to go.
I forgot to mention that Excel has one more advantage - for printing, the output can easily be split horizontally. This may be benefitial if you have many columns.
