I have a user control that I want to subclass. From VS, I create another user control, go into the code-behind page and change the Inherits to the class I want to inherit from. Do I need to do anything else? When I save the new subclass and reopen it I get a message stating that the control could not be opened in the Web Form Designer and that an object reference was not set to an instance of an object.

What am I doing wrong?
