I seem to be having trouble locating any books on this particular platform. I am in a call center environement with Unix servers running cti applications with FoxPro databases.
Will,
I work in similar environment: predictive dialer from EIS International.
FoxPro 2.6 works pretty good with dialer’s huge tables.
I did not notice any sugnificant difference with dos,
Vlad pointed some Unix specific.
I actually do all programming for Unix on Windows (I love CEE-COB editor extension), copy to unix and just run with minor changes (like default directory).
But I have to say, that my strategy is to do minimum on Unix (data intensive quieries), export results to windows and do the rest on windows, where I keep all archives, lookup tables and so on.
I'd like to exchange experience on Unix-Windows issues.
How are you solving problems with real time Unix data on windows?
Do you use DDE with terminal emulation or you have Windows client software?
If you have same problems, please e-mail me at oleg_khvalin@suth.com
Thanks,
Oleg
