You can open, read, and write VFP 6 data in VFP 7 without any changes and vice-versa and both VFP 6 and 7 apps can simultaneously read/update the same data. The difference will come if you enable database events in VFP 7. Until you turn them off, VFP 6 will be unable to read the data.
