Hi Michelle,

I think I get the gist of what you're saying. The PUTM account options are a good enough way for me to set an acceptable default font size, so I don't really have a problem now. As a general rule, though, I do think it's preferable to support adjustable fonts through the usual straightforward IE mechanisms. This makes it easier to rearrange my desktop according to the needs of the moment. I find that there is some variation in my eyesight during the course of the day, and this is also a factor.

It would be nice if the UT were more conventional about font scalability, and I see no indication that this would be detrimental to the user interface. Perhaps it's just too much trouble to make the necessary programming changes. I simply would suggest that Michel consider making such an improvement, if he finds the time for it.

>It depends on how the fonts are implimented. If you assign exact numbers to the fonts in HTML, that's what the user will see, regardless of their settings. If you asign relative font sizes (it's been a while and I don't remember the exact tag. Larger and Smaller, maybe?), then the user will see the fonts in the same size relation to each other as you specify, but they will all be scaled according to the text size the user sets. Michel has chosen to do it the first way, which over-rides the user preferences. But you can over-ride them back again by using the accessibility option to force your choice. The downside is that since he designed the site to use a particular font size, by over-riding it the page can get messy and you can't always see everything.

If a site is completely unreadable, I'll just skip it unless it contains information I can't find elsewhere. Luckily, the UT isn't that bad with size set to larger. On some pages, the text will overlap vertically, making it unreadable, at larger font sizes. MS's site used to be this way, but they seem to have fixed it.

>>Thanks for the tip Michelle. I discovered the Ctrl+MouseWheel option myself, by accident, a while back. However, this does not work on UT, nor does the usual IE toolbar Font button. I was wondering if there is something that makes it difficult to implement on UT, but I've had no reply on that question.
