I have a VFP application that talks to an Oracle 8 server using ODBC.
This application stores some char data in a char field in a table.
However, when storing some extended chars , say chr(253) and recovering them, the recovered chars are different from the ones that were stored.

Seems to be a translation or NLS problem, but I do not know where to look.
Server is on a Solaris machine
Client is a W2k
Using Microsoft ODBC for Oracle.
ODBC configuration is set for "no translation of char data"
VFP6 + SP3

Happens only in a specific installation, does not happen in several others Oracle installations (but I have no other Solaris installations)
