It's just not obvious where any of these configuration settings are now being made, at first I looked on the Account Setup page and didn't find any setting that controlled it. I assumed it was just the way things now worked so I complained (nothing unusual there *bg*) and Nick pointed me to the right configuration point.
I am glad it's changeable, just doesn't have a good set of defaults for those of us just now seeing the new UI for the first time.
