The new menus are the same except that they now let you use images (icons). Therefore they need a different internal structure.
Intellisense is the nice feature that other MS environments like VB, VC or Visual Interdev and others have where you get tooltips with syntax, pointers to the next parameter in a function, contect-sensitive pulldowns to pick choices from, pulldowns to pick fieldnames out of an open DBF, and on top of that programability and extensibility (i.e. much more than other Intellisense implementations have). Lots to like.
And don't forget the dialog docking options! (command box, debugger pieces, property window, data environment and more).
