Hello Chris

ok easy answer

think of it this way
win98 = old chevy truck
win2k = Corvette

the Corvette driver (win2k) alway does the speed limit on the network. The old chevy truck (Win98) driver always goes as fast as he can

basicly win98 is a network hog put 100 win98 pcs on a network and every pc runs slow put 150 win2k pcs on a network and they all work ok

Both were running Mere Mortals (also upgraded to 7.0 with the new machine) off a network drive. But it doesn't 'feel' like a network problem. It seems like something running in VFP's background. I suspect performance won't change if I drop off the network, but then I can't post that answer. ;)
