Calling on all UTers- this is again a request for ANYONE who has experienced this. I think this is some kind of Microsoft bug.

We have some web applications, mostly in java, using an ODBC connection to a VFP DBC. At times, this data gets altered by other sources- other java applications using their own ODBC connection, VFP programs accessing the data directly, or VFP programs accessing the data via their own ODBC connections.

When these "other" applications alter the data, the original java based web system sometimes experiences a delay in seeing the changes to the data. Restarting the java service always solves this problem, but is obviously not a good solution. Waiting 5-20 minutes usually solves the problem as well, but is also not good.

We do re-establish the odbc connection everytime the user submits a request to the server, so the connections are always new.

The company is switching to SQL Server, and this is one of the big reasons. I am a huge VFP guy, but this type of problem makes VFP look really bad. I have found over time that the ODBC VFP driver is NOT solid.
