Hi Jim,

Thanks for the reply. The WinME box is not a notebook. It is a tower with 1.4GHz P4 512 MB Ram, 80GB HD and the original WinME OS that came with it over a year ago. I have not installed any OS SPs. I have upgraded IE and Outlook express to 6.x. According to the sysinfo, it sees all of the memory.

I have always had problems with this computer locking up, requiring reboot at least once a day, and even more frequently since I upgraded IE 6 and installed Mcafee antivirus. I have put up with this for over a year and just chalked it up to WinME being a piece of S#!^. This is my home computer, not my development machine, or I would have shot it and put it out of my misery a long time ago.

After I sent the first post, I thought of one other major difference. The WinME box has a Logitech cordless keyboard and cordless optical mouse with the receiver plugged in to the USB. Is it possible that this is polling taking up that much of the resources? I wouldn't think so but...

In any event, I agree that there is probably something wrong with the WinME box or OS. This was the first time that I did any benchmark like testing comparing the 2 computers. I use it for testing my apps and never noticed slugish performance before. When I get the time, I think I will upgrade to WinXP Pro after I check for hardware problems.

Thanks
Elmer
