I have an ASP page which I am using to send update information to my SQL Server. There are several date fields which I am trying to update but the values are stored as strings on the page. When I send an update statement to the server with zero length strings "" the server is automatically inserting 1/1/1900.

Is there any reasonably easy way to specify that "" is analagous to null?
