I see Micromega Systems has released version 6.02 of FoxFire with numerous new features and enhancements. I have sent an e-mail to them and have had a response back because my assertion is that a .02 release should be bug fixes and completed conversion of their tacky FPW2.6 forms to VFP forms and controls.

Instead, they are putting out what I consider a major update release with all their enhancements, completed conversions to VFP controls and bug fixes. All this should have been a version 6.1 or higher release. The 6.02 release, IMHO, should have been the bug fixes and completed conversions to VFP forms and controls. Now, we are being extorted to pony up another $200 or $300 [depending on which version you originally purchased] to get many of the upgrades that should have been in the original 6.0 release. The 6.0 release amounted to little more than FF 3.0 being run through the VFP 6 conversion wizard with a little cosmetic changes to the forms. To their credit, they did greatly enhance the Report Manager and added support for SQL backends for an additional add on user pack.

When 6.0 came out, I was one of the first to get it and the SQL 5-user pack for querying and creating reports against an Oracle database. As a result, I spent an inordinate amount of time working with some of their tech staff getting some major bugs cleared up in their Oracle code.

My last communication with them was with their reps at WhilFest last October about some problems, and have been patiently waiting for the next patch to be released. Now they want another $300. I am totally pissed.

I expect better from MM because they do have a terrific product. For some reason, I expected something other than FPW 2.6 forms in a VFP release of their product.
