Even a REINDEX will clear any bloat.

And while it is obviously a good idea (necessary, actually) to keep your index definitions around in case of .CDX header corruption, such corruption is talked about as if it is common and of course it is not.
And .DBCs add additional complexity, not only regarding indexes stored there but also if any relationships have been defined for the tables.
