In addition to Sergey's suggestion, you could also create male and female count variables within the report using code similar to Sergeys i.e. MCNT = iif(gender = "M",1,0) and FCNT = iif(gender = "F",1,0).

By having the variables inside the report, you can ask for subtotals of the Males and Females at any group footer.
