"Gay" is precisely the example that came to my mind when reading some earlier messages in this thread.

Back to "evangelist": here in Bolivia (and S.America in general, I would say), this term is used specifically for a protestant preacher, and sometimes to the protestant believers in general (the term "protestant" being hardly known by most people).
