I would take VFP 7 and opening the table exclusively to delete the link to the DBC. A table repair utility could probably do the same thing. File editing with a hexeditor could also do it if the user knew which bit [bits?]to change to what.

Are you concerned about someone copying the files in order to look at the data who is not authorized or are you just looking to protect the integrity of the data in its original location?
