Now much of the confusion stems from the fact that it takes one to discover (especially since noboddy spells it out clearly for reasons that are beyond the scope of this posting) that OO as an approach is not simply an extention of the realtional approach. Take Normalization for example. Relational theory makes Normalization a top design priority. In OO on the other hand, it has the tendency of standing in the way: we would rather save an invoice as 1 object than as 2 tables as we do know (header and lines).

The strong point of VFP is its excellent support for the relational approach (SQL - Rushmore etc.). The rest (GUI,OO,OLE) is nice, but mediocre in implementation (how's that for a new recruit of the dinosaure brigade?).

So mixing both is not such a good idea!

to be continued ...

If things have the tendency to go your way, do not worry. It won't last. Jules Renard.
