thanks for the reply. i feel kinda bad about asking such a
basic question here, because with a little experimentation,
i was able to find the answers.

OTOH, it seems that when members reply to a question here in
this forum, they frequently add a little extra observation or
insight, that is equally useful as the core answer itself.

FWIW - i am maintaining somebody else's old code, and it turns
out they were using the SET RELATION command incorrectly.
giving them the benefit of the doubt, i began to wonder if i
was misunderstanding how the command worked :)
