This morning, out of sheer stubbornness, I attempted to access the SAMBA share on the Linux server, expecting to get the error informing me that the box on which I clicked did not exist. But today it works.

I hate it when that happens! Rather it not work, than to work and not know why (I think that statement is quite philosophical BTW).

In any case, maybe I needed to down the server ... it was off overnight on account of it not working. And I did alter the hosts file to list the ip of the pdc machine and the ip for the domain. The ip is the same of course, but it does seem to work. I'm scratching my head but it works.

Now if I can just get my bosses' bosses' boss in here and I can demonstrate how we can save the state some money on server licenses. I'm in Florida and he's a guy named Jeb...

Thanks to everyone for their input.
