>Sounds like you went through all of the OS configuration possibilities already? With that in mind, does the data reside on the novell server or on the NT server?

The data reside on NT Server. We have another server (development server), which is Novell Server, but we don't have the same problem there. However, we never really train lots of users simultaneously on it.

Now we have about 6-7 Parcel Processors, who works each on his/her own workfile, 3 convertors, 4 people in transaction processing and 2-4 people in customer service. All use files and applications, which reside on NT Server.

I'm not sure, if this is the case. The problem is intermittent (?sp again), it could not be easily reproduced, but it occurred several times already... Say, at one minute this message appears, we get out the application, invoke it again, and the problem went away... There is absolutely no pattern, but it happens, when lots of users are in the system...

One other similarity in these occurences, that user's form in these applications has a grid, which allows editting. Could it be related?

>>We're using Novell 4. Most of the workstastions are Windows 98. Live server is a NT Server. All applications and tables reside on the Network.

>>Sometimes users receive "Record is locked or file is in use" error message in a messagebox with only OK button. At this moment there is only one user, which uses this particular work file, though lots of users work with different work files at the same moment.

If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
