(sorry about the formatting)

Error: Setup routines for the INTERSOLV could not be
loaded due to system error
Created on 10/13/97

Topic

"Setup routines for the INTERSOLV could not be loaded due to system
error " when trying to configure a datasource in the ODBC Administrator

Resolution

The most common error numbers for this message are 1157 or 126. There are
three common causes of this error message:

1) You do not have the appropriate client software installed.
Refer to the System Requirements of the driver you are trying to configure for the
specific software requirements for each driver. System Requirements can be found
in the Driver Help file or in the ODBC Reference Guide. For example, if you are
trying to configure a datasource for the ODBC driver for ORACLE, you must have
SQL*NET installed. Additionally, you must have the 32-bit version of the client
software installed in order to configure a 32-bit driver. You must have the 16-bit
version of the client software installed in order to configure a 16-bit driver.

2) You do not have your path set correctly.
You must have the directory that contains the drivers on the path. By default, this is
the System directory (this may be windows\system, winnt\system32, etc.). You
must also have the directory that contains the client software on the path. To edit
your path, you can edit your autoexec.bat file on Windows and Windows 95
machines. You will need to reboot your machine in order for changes to take
effect. For Windows NT machines, add the directories to the path environment
settings in the System Control Panel.

3) You have installed the wrong driver.
This is especially common when doing a Single Driver installation. During the
installation, you are instructed to choose the components you want to install by
checking Program Files and/or ODBC Drivers. If you are installing a single driver,
you should also click Change to select the driver you wish to install. If you do not
select a driver, the Btrieve driver will be installed by default. If you ran the
installation for a Single Driver, and did not click on Change to select the
appropriate driver, run the installation again.
