Title:
Trouble installing VS .NET
I am trying to install VS .NET using my MSDN Universal Subscription DVD # 1336. On the first pass, the installation needed to update some components: Windows 2000 SP2, IE 6.0, the MDAC, and perhaps something else. This it did, rebooting my computer a couple of times. On the final pass, Installing the Microsoft .NET Framework, it read from the DVD and the thermometer went to "full" and the window caption changed to read "Current component is still installing." Well, it hung up my computer at this point. I can't cancel or otherwise get out of the install, end task or shut down my computer properly.
On subsequent tries, the installation only wants to install the .NET Framework (so it must have installed all the rest of the components properly--or did it?) but the thing still hangs as before.
Any suggestions? Nevermind, you need not reply.
I went back and forced the component updates, one by one. Now the .net seems to be installing fine. I think something must have hiccupped (that's a technical term) when I was originally applying the SP2 to Windows 2000. I wish I would have gotten some kind of error message, though, instead of just a hangup.
