I've got a problem on one of my Win98 boxes, that any attempt to uninstall an application using Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel fails with an Unhandled Exception, error number 0x80070725, message "incompatible version of the RPC stub". The particular programs I'm trying to uninstall were installed with Installshield, so that's what runs when I fire up uninstall. The references to this message in the MSDN Library simply indicate that it's system error 1829, but give no further information and no suggestion as to what might be causing it. FWIW I reinstalled the Windows installer but that didn't fix it. Does anyone know what component(s) I should be checking to find out what's wrong here?
