As one of the authors of HackFox7, I don't mind people *trading* books; that is, giving the paper copy and ALL electronic copies away in return for another book.
But, like Jim Booth says, we authors get approximately $2 to $5 per copy of each book. Do not keep a copy of the HackFox7.chm if you trade it for another book -- you're violating copyright laws and depriving us of the income that allows us to write books. Remember, most authors give up
significant billable hours to write these books. We know that writing not nearly as profitable as the billable work (not by a longshot!), but we do expect that readers will honor copyrights and purchase the books. The only way we receive income on the time we spent writing the books is for people to buy the books.
Most developers bill out or cost their company
at least the cost of a book per hour. If a book saves you just one hour (and most Hentzenwerke books will save you FAR MORE THAN THAT!), you've recovered the cost of the book. I know you said you want the book for learning purposes, but my guess is that you will likely use the Report Writer for your work in some capacity. You will profit (somehow, some way) from this book; the author should profit, too.
Please consider purchasing the Report Writer book. If you purchase only the ebook from
www.hentzenwerke.com, you save $10 US off the cover price, which makes it $39.95 US for that ebook. And you'll be able to download it almost immediately.
I don't want to sound mean and angry, actually, I'm not angry at all. I want to tell you (and everyone who reads this) what's going on from the author's perspective, and to remind you (and everyone who reads this) that copyright laws need to be respected.
