VFP applications are usually very data intensive. Peer-to-peer networks are fine for sharing documents and other files, but they just don't cut it for heavy traffic situations. After all, there is a reason that companies sell file servers. We require a dedicated file server for our applications. Clients that ignore that requirement and use a peer-to-peer network usually have more problems with data corruption and indexes.
If your clients need an inexpensive solution, Linux can be used as a decent file server.
