>One of the things that frustrates me about Microsoft is SQL Server marketing effort regarding MSDE. It seems like everyone I talk to at conferences about using SQL Server as their data storage tool says their users are too small, can't afford SQL Server, and so on. When I tell them about MSDE they're eyes widen up. The conversations always seem to result in them saying "You mean to tell me that I can develop my VFP applications with SQL Server and then give the SQL Server data engine to my customers for free?" ... I always answer the same way, "YES! Cool huh?"

Hi Jim,
How do you handle SQL Server administration? Being a vertical market software provider, this is an issue that concerns us. We think larger companies that need the full version of SQL Server are more likely to have a DBA on staff, or at least someone that has a clue. Smaller companies use someone that can handle file server problems, but may not know a thing about SQL Server.
Thanks.
