>what is autoincrement ?

Access has a field of type "Autoincrement". It is basically a 4-byte integer, but an auto-incremented (sequential) value is stored automatically for each record added. This is very convenient for primary keys - if you choose to use PKs without business value.

In VFP, the same can be done calling a UDF from the default value of a field, so I think the lack of an autoincremented field is not a major issue.
