Do what I did. On my web site, I put the SETUP.EXE and a self-extracting EXE that updates the DBC/DCT/DCX files along with the SDT meta data files. I included instructions in downloading and installing. The extract the database files one time to their current DB location, and install the new app on all the workstations. Since I used InstallShield this time, I did need them to do an UNINSTALL of the previous version of the app before installation of the new app.
As for the web site location, I created a special NT user for the file location folder and required them to authenticate to the web server before they can download the files.
How hard is that?
>We have started to use VFP 7 here for new development but we have 2-3000 users all over the country running our VFP6 apps. How do we get all other those boxes installed with VFP runtimes? Many have internet access but many don't. We are guarenteed to spend 100s of hours supporting a runtime update. Any thoughts?
