I tried this yesterday, and it worked great.
I got Patch Maker from
www.download.com (the original Web-site is
www.clickteam.com - they have some other interesting software, too).
I had it compare two slightly different versions of a 5 MB EXE. On the first try, the patch was greater than the EXE - of course, I had forgotten to turn off the "Decrypt" option.
Second try: the patch had a total size of 82 KB. Of this - according to the statistics - 1889 Bytes was the information about the actual changes. The remaining 80 KB we can assume to be a fixed-size overhead.
