UltraEdit, shareware $30 will do a great job of comparing files. The comparison engine can also be "hooked" to another .exe, so if you have another favorite, it can use that one instead.
It also has syntax higlighting for your favorite 20 languages out of the 100+ that are in the wordfile (I have VFP, ASP, VB, C++, C#, XML, HTML, CMD, and AppleSoft BASIC). It also hex-edits binary files if you load one instead of a text file. It also reads/writes to files in FTP sites. It also automatically handles CRLF-LFCR-CR formatting for Win/Unix/Mac OS's. It also has a spell checker. It also matches braces. It also supports limited tab-sense. It also does macros. And etcetcetc.
Since the VFP7 IDE's editor is so weak, I use UltraEdit to do my .prg's and just compile/etc in the IDE.
