I think I've answered my own question. I set the buffermodeoverride in the business object builder | Data Access | Edit | screen to optimistic table buffering and it seems to work.

I want the user to be able to check off as many recs as they want and then either click Save or Cancel to either TableUpdate all recs or Table Revert all recs.
