>How can I transfer the contents of a general field in one file to a general field in another file? I want to build a cursor that will contain a few records extracted from a larger file. Normally I do this with a SCATTER and INSERT, but this won't work for general fields. And I can't seem to get APPEND GENERAL to pull from a field in another file.

Better, don't use general fields. Ain't worth the trouble - and they use up 20 times more space. At least if it is for pictures, store your pictures in JPG files, and have a reference (filename) in a character or short memo field.

Hilmar.
