It's still a non-issue because the time required to generate a PK value is
already so small that slicing 4/5 would make no difference.

Intellectually curious, yes. However I won't even test it because I
choose to waste my time reading Mathematical and Actuarila journals instead
of testing another solution to a problem that was already resolved to
my clients and my own personal satisfaction.
