I didn't think of that interpretation. Setting aside the finer points of semantics, I took Tamar's and Dragan's remarks to mean that they thought the "machine's setup" might have a bearing on the outcome of such experiments. If it isn't too much trouble, could you please try running the simple test that I outlined. I'd be very curious to know if anyone, under any configuration, can produce a different outcome. Thanks.

P.S. On re-reading, I can see that Tamar and Dragan may well have meant what you are saying about "server". I.e. they may be acknowledging that the problem for IE is as I describe, but noting that other COM object behave differently. Let's first get it clear, though, whether everyone agrees that this is the way VFP7 behaves for the case of IE and the WebBrowser control.
