Having just upgraded from SuSE 7.3 to SuSE 8.0, mainly to get the newest KDEvelop with the lastest Qt 3.0 data aware widget set, I thought I'd give KDevelop a checkout and see how things are progressing.
One word: WOW!
From within KDevelop I fired Qt Designer and created a new form. I fired the "database connection" menu option and filled in the info for my PostgreSQL database, using the supplied QPSQL7 driver (QMYSQL is also included). I dragged the "Data Table" icon from the tool bar adn dropped it on my form. Immediately a dialog appeared listing the tables in my PostgreSQL database (system and user). I selected a user table and another dialog appeared listing the fields and presenting a 'where' clause editor to setup a filter. When I clicked the Finished button a beautiful grid appeared on my form, with the names of the fields as headers in the columns. I clicked the menu optin WIndows--> Preview and a live form appeared with a live grid containing my data. Easy as falling off a log. Much easier than the connection sequence that Kylix requires.
IMO, KDevelop is close enough to the level of Kylix 1.0, or maybe even 2.0, to be useful in the client-server development catagory.
This is a really competitive tool!
