Have never gone back to the COM issue, because my work around using FoxWeb calls works much better than a COM solution. Using FoxWeb I created the function calls I needed and I do not have to worry about registering/unregistering any COM objects. Also with the FoxWeb solution I can make any changes I need quickly and easily.
By the way we are now in the process of moving from Cold Fusion to Dreamweaver Ultra Dev and maybe their new MX solutions. It will take time though...
