Sorry, I don't think your answer applies to my question.

I am not getting the mouse events in Grid-column-text except on the first instance. I am not validiating input either, I want the mouse to change if a double click on the text box will have a custom action.

The problem is: the mouse events only seem to fire when I hover over the text box from outside the grid or into the selected column. In other words: as I move the mouse down the column over the text boxes in other rows, the mouse events do not fire. It will fire as the mouse passes the selected row and exits the selected row. but ignores the event in every other row.
