If you really have to change the caption, then you might find it simpler to use a style 1 (graphical) checkbox with a picture of a bitmap that says 'NO' and a downpicture that shows a 'YES' bitmap. I did a very similar thing, but used no picture for unchecked, and a downpicture of a checkmark.
