At least one of the respondents of an old thread describing a problem virtually like yours stated that moving the NIC corrected the problem. Sounds legitimate to me, especially after some troubles I had long ago installing a PCI modem card. In one slot there were conflicts and other trouble and in another slot all was well!?!?!
