I get the exact same thing here. We use Echange 5.5 and Outlook 2002 clients. I'll open a word atatchment and microsoft Word will open but not the file and I get the same error message. If I then close Word and retry the atatchment it opens successfully. So if you find a reply I'm hunting too. Couldn't find anything on Microsoft's support site.
