Or you could have said to simply remove the REINDEX and otherwise leave it alone. I *think* that was the crux of the original question.


I agree, of course, that the PACK would have substantially improved speed by doing a DELETE TAG ALL first. And in a tightly constrained HD-space situation that might be the way one would have to do it.
