Indeed nor does the lack of passion equal maturity. The problem IMO is when emotions run counter to reality and people believe them rather than the reality.

IOW, emotions are neither good nor bad - they just are. However, they can lie to you big time.

Ever hear a strange noise at night and get a super adrenalin rush because emotionally you're convinced someone is in your home? I have. Usually turns out to be something in the kitchen sink that shifted or something. The emotion was as real as they come but completely not based in the actual facts.

That's my point. To the degree we allow emotions to rule our judgement, to that degree we open ourselves up for potential troubles.

Additionally I'm quite comfortable with the notion of intuition and I suppose that's not much more than emotion-driven thoughts...
