I was following this thread fairly well until you stated 'as compared to a function call as in VFP...'

Quite frequently I call a method of an object in VFP. Some programmers will add new methods to the objects in practice rather than call functions also, so it is done BOTH ways in VFP and I think most developers can understand the syntax both ways, so I don't see the problem here of leaving it in vb.net.
