We've got one application with 140+ 2.x free tables and after making the updates they remain 2.x tables (unless you add field types, NULL support or other "features" not supported by the 2.x table structure). I know they still work because many locations are still running FPW 2.6a apps against the same data. Can you give an example of what you did that didn't work?
We've found it necessary to reindex the tables one at a time and write out our own file with info on those tables SDT can't reindex.
