If it's a business application then it's not a good idea to me because end-users always expect menu-driven apps, shortcut menu, shortcut key via menu. I would liken this with the analogy of road signs. Travellers always expect road signs to be available while travelling in the road, and so the same with end-user business apps. Now if your app only contains 2 or 3 menu items, it would be different story perhaps.
